THE AUTHENTICITY
As the saying goes, “marry your best friend”, the love between Se Hoi and Thiên Thanh has been nurtured through the simplest, most everyday gestures. It lives in the quiet care of Se Hoi placing a glass of water by the bedside, knowing Thiên Thanh tends to forget, and in the gentle presence of Thiên Thanh, always there to look after Se Hoi through moments of exhaustion.
In the days of December, The Story Packer had the privilege of accompanying their journey of love across three meaningful milestones: an intimate traditional ceremony, a destination wedding by the poetic lakeside in Đà Lạt, and a vibrant celebration in Sài Gòn, closing the year with a chapter of memories to be cherished for a lifetime.
THE JADE-HUED TRADITIONAL CEREMONY
On this special day, Thiên Thanh’s home was adorned in soft shades of jade green. Wooden details intertwined with white and blush lotus blossoms created a warm, deeply Vietnamese atmosphere for the Vietnamese traditional ceremony.
The couple chose to wear Nhật Bình and Áo Tấc, honoring the elegance and solemnity of traditional Vietnamese wedding attire. In harmony with this spirit, the bridesmaids and groomsmen wore Áo Ngũ Thân, completing a visual symphony rich in cultural identity.
The ceremony unfolded like a living painting: vivid, emotional, and full of life. Se Hoi and his groomsmen faced a series of delightfully unique challenges prepared by the bridesmaids: from skillfully using long chopsticks to find Thiên Thanh’s childhood photo, to navigating a playful yet demanding Vietnamese reading challenge that brought both suspense and bursts of laughter.
Following the joyful energy of the bride’s welcoming games, the ceremony continued with a heartfelt fusion of Vietnamese wedding traditions and the Chinese tea ceremony.
Each gesture, each blessing carried the couple’s deep reverence for their ancestors and families. It also became a meaningful moment for their international guests to witness and better understand the beauty of Vietnamese wedding culture.
“ALMOND BLOSSOM” BY THE LAKE
The emotions of the traditional ceremony gently carried into an intimate wedding in Đà Lạt. Inspired by “Almond Blossom” by Vincent van Gogh, a painting especially loved by Thiên Thanh, the celebration was woven into a poetic narrative of new beginnings. From its soft palette to the delicate white blossoms heralding spring, every detail reflected purity, tenderness, and hope.
The couple chose to hold their vow ceremony in the morning, gracefully avoiding the forecasted afternoon rain and allowing their most meaningful moments to unfold slowly. Wrapped in the soft embrace of early mist, Se Hoi and Thiên Thanh stood within a living canvas of layered mountains by the serene Tuyền Lâm Lake.
A delightful surprise arrived as Se Hoi and his groomsmen entered the ceremony transformed into quintessential Vietnamese delivery riders, bringing laughter and an unexpected spark of energy to the celebration.
In the crisp chill of early December in Đà Lạt, the couple exchanged their vows and completed the final pieces of a handcrafted mosaic inspired by “Almond Blossom”, a symbolic act of building their shared future, piece by piece.
As the misty morning gave way to an evening illuminated by warm lights, the celebration blossomed into a lively night.
Guests shared their wishes through handwritten cards, while fleeting moments of joy were captured in Polaroid photographs, creating keepsakes filled with laughter and love.
Vietnamese cultural touches once again came alive through traditional bamboo dancing set to the joyful rhythm of “Xoè Hoa”, along with playful group games around the bonfire.
The evening concluded in a beautiful crescendo of emotions, marking the beginning of a new journey, where sincerity and warmth will always be the guiding light for Se Hoi and Thiên Thanh as they walk hand in hand through life.
